Abstract

As a comprehensive long-term plan, the company’s strategy is the basis and starting point of the company’s business decision-making,which will naturally affect the company’s financial decisions. It can be seen that how the company’s strategy affects the company’s financial behavior and its results has gradually become a hot topic in the field of corporate finance research, such as the impact of corporate strategy on performance appraisal, taxation strategy, and investment efficiency. Naturally, tax strategy, accounting information disclosure, and external auditing requirements as an important performance of a company’s financial decision-making behavior will also be affected by the company’s strategic positioning. So,how does the company’s strategy affect tax avoidance decisions, and companies with different strategic orientations tend to what kind of tax avoidance strategy? How does corporate strategy affect accounting information disclosure decisions, and companies with different strategic orientations tend to improve corporate accounting robustness or reduce accounting robustness? Will management be “precautionary” for the special needs of the company’s strategic positioning, and show special “preferences” when selecting auditors to “meet” their own strategic needs? In response to these doubts that have plagued the practice community, academic research has begun. However,in the role chain of corporate strategy affecting financial decision-making behavior, independent auditing,as one of the important mechanisms of corporate external governance, can play the governance effect of auditing, and what is its constraint mechanism? At present, this research is still insufficient and there is no conclusion.

In this view, the book firstly explains the mechanism of the company’s strategic positioning on the company’s financial decision-making based on the review of related literatures, analyzes the influencing factors and constraints of this process, and then build the theoretical prototype of the relationship between the company’s strategic positioning and the company’s financial decision-making. Then, this theoretical prototype is embedded into China’s specific audit market environment and legal system background, and then the test model of the relationship between corporate strategic positioning and corporate financial decision based on China’s specific economic environment and institutional background is obtained. Finally, according to the above theoretical prototype and test model, the data of Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listed companies from 2009 to 2016 are selected. At the same time, combined with the information of the signed auditors disclosed by listed companies in China, systematically examine how the strategic positioning of the company affects tax avoidance decisions, the decision-making of information disclosure, the path selection of external auditing requirements and the governance effect of external auditing. This study is expected to deepen the research on the mechanism of corporate financial decision-making behavior. At the same time,at the level of auditor’s individual behavior, the study can clarify the role of external auditing in corporate governance and its constraint mechanism and improve the efficiency of audit management.

To be specific, the research of this book has certain policy significance:First,as the undertaking unit of the company’s auditing business, the accounting firm should reasonably allocate auditor resources according to the strategic positioning of the company being audited. Especially for strategically aggressive companies, accounting firms should assign audit experts to these companies to effectively control audit risks and improve the quality of accounting information of enterprises;Secondly,as the actual implementer and main responsible person of the auditing business, the signing auditor should pay attention to the accumulation of personal industry experience, cultivate personal industry expertise, and play the role of auditing experts;Thirdly,as the supervisory authority,China Securities Regulatory Commission and China Institute of Certified Public Accountants should guide and encourage accountants to strengthen industry-specific investment by improving and publicizing relevant laws and other measures, and encourage them to develop audit talents with industry expertise and improve auditor training and training systems. In addition,it should establish an auditor talent pool and reserve army to promote long-term and stable development of the audit industry.
